Our subject was Product Photography and we started with tutorials on “the Three Rules of Light”, The set up and use of a Lightbox and then a demonstration of an actual product shoot of a bottle of beer. We then had the opportunity to try this out ourselves. A small lightbox was set up with a static light at outside it at each side. Cameras were set to Manual focus and we tested various settings starting at F9 or F10 at 125th of a second and adjusted accordingly to our individual cameras. We found that closing up the front of the lightbox and shooting through the slit was more successful than with the front open, however the lights we used we not really strong enough to give perfect results and the raw image needed adjustments in post- production processing to give a clean white background.
